Deskripsi Pekerjaan
Apex Data Systems is building the real-time data infrastructure powering the next generation of fintech applications. We process billions of events daily with sub-millisecond latency. We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who thrives on complexity, values clean architecture, and wants to own critical systems from design to production.
You will join a small, high-leverage team where your decisions directly shape the product and the technical trajectory of the company. We value pragmatism over dogma, deep technical expertise, and a product-first mindset.
Why This Role?
- Ownership: Lead the architecture of our core ingestion pipeline and storage layer.
- Scale: Optimize systems handling 5M+ events/second on a lean budget.
- Stack: Modern Go/Python, gRPC, Kafka, ClickHouse, Kubernetes (EKS), Terraform.
- Culture: Low meetings, high trust, async-first communication, quarterly offsites.
Tanggung Jawab
- Design, implement, and maintain high-throughput, low-latency backend services primarily in Go (with some Python for data tooling).
- Architect scalable data pipelines using Kafka, Redis, and ClickHouse for real-time analytics.
- Drive architectural decisions: evaluate trade-offs between consistency, availability, and latency for distributed systems.
- Establish and enforce engineering standards: code review practices, observability (OpenTelemetry/Prometheus/Grafana), and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/ArgoCD).
- Collaborate closely with Product and Data Science to define APIs (gRPC/REST) and data contracts (Protobuf/Avro).
- Mentor mid-level engineers through pairing, design reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Participate in a sustainable on-call rotation (Tier 3 escalation) and lead blameless post-mortems for production incidents.
- Contribute to open-source tooling where applicable and represent Apex at industry conferences.
Kualifikasi
- 7+ years professional backend development experience; 3+ years writing production-grade Go.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts: CAP theorem, consensus algorithms (Raft), distributed tracing, and circuit breaking.
- Proven track record designing and operating high-volume data pipelines (Kafka, Flink, or similar streaming platforms).
- Expertise in database internals and query optimization (PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, or Cassandra).
- Strong proficiency with Kubernetes (operators, controllers, Helm) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Experience with gRPC/Protobuf and designing versioned, backward-compatible APIs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to write clear RFCs and design docs.
