United BC Team is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Intermediate Mechanical Designer to join our engineering division in Penang. In this role, you will play a critical part in the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of customized automation machinery and precision equipment.
As an intermediate designer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software specialists, and assembly technicians to translate technical requirements into robust, high-performance automated systems. You will utilize advanced 3D CAD modeling to design mechanisms, perform engineering calculations, and optimize parts for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA). This role provides an exceptional opportunity to expand your expertise in industrial automation, factory floor robotics, and precision mechanical systems within a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment.
The ideal candidate possesses practical experience in machine design, strong geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) capabilities, and hands-on troubleshooting skills during the machinery build and commissioning phases.
Tanggung Jawab
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models, structural layouts, and manufacturing drawings for custom automation machinery and precision mechanisms.
- Perform mechanical engineering calculations including stress analysis, kinematics, motor sizing, and structural validation.
- Select and specify standard mechanical, pneumatic, and electromechanical components such as actuators, linear guides, sensors, and drive systems.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to ensure cost efficiency, ease of production, and structural integrity.
- Prepare precise Bill of Materials (BOM), assembly diagrams, and engineering documentation to streamline fabrication and procurement.
- Collaborate with assembly and commissioning teams to troubleshoot, adjust, and optimize machinery during build and system integration testing.
- Liaise with external suppliers, fabricators, and clients to resolve design queries and verify technical tolerances.
Kualifikasi
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of proven experience in mechanical design, specifically focused on customized automation machinery, jigs, or fixtures.
- High proficiency in 3D CAD platforms, preferably SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or PTC Creo.
- Solid understanding of pneumatic systems, mechanical drives, actuator integration, and motor sizing.
- Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and standard engineering drawing conventions.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with practical troubleshooting capabilities during machinery prototyping and floor commissioning.
- Effective communication skills with ability to collaborate efficiently within cross-functional technical teams.
